Well, this is mainly the reason why I wasn't online as much. I was in different cities and villages all over Germany like Knittlingen or Leipzig. Once again I missed the Leipzig Book fair by a week. GOD DAMMIT!
For all those who don't know Knittlingen:
It's the birth place of the historical Faust. There is a big museum and an archive full of books about him. Surprisingly enough not much is known about him.
I also bought new books:
1. Vertigo by Boileau/Narcejac
2. Dracula by Bram Stoker
3. Märchen von Treue & Freundschaft by HG von Hannelore Marzi
(Fairy tales about loyalty and friendship)
4. The three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
5. Märchen der Brüder Grimm
(Fairy tales of the Grimm Brothers)
6. Mythologie Götter Helden Mythen by a lot of people
(Mythology Gods Heroes Myths)
I had to do a lot during the last 3 weeks. Lot of cathing up on college work. I had to do all those tests within three weeks!
People were surprised that I was alive...what the hell?
I'm glad that there only 3 tests left. and only 6 weeks to go and than I will be on vaccation in London.
I'M GONNA BUY EVEN MORE BOOKS!
BUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!
@Rachel
I can see you read Twilight. DON'T BE TEMPTED BY THE DARK SIDE!

The problem is that the writing isn't all that good...well that and the lack of a plot...and a lot of other things.
I do like romance, like the one in the current book I'm reading(Vertigo).
What annoys me is the characterization. Bella only likes Edward because he is hot and Edward likes her because her blood smells like strawberries, apperently she is part Febreeze or something.
Also what frightens me is that the target group consists of teenage girls. If they took Bella as a role model what are they going to learn?
Try to commit suicide so your boyfriend return?
Stalking is a kind of courtship?
Take the guy who is dangerous(Edward) instead of the decent guy who treats you right (Jackob)?
The end was a major bummer, too. The idea was that a plain girl had a chance to get the local hotty to like her, but in the end all they talked about is how stunningly beautiful she became after a certain event. (I won't spoil it to you.)
I can see the appeal for a lot of young girls to get someone like Edward. After all every few pages Meyer described how dazzling and handsome he is. Lot of girls probably replace Bella with themselves to delve into the story.
The last and most important thing that pissed me off was the branding of vampire.
Vampires are supposed to be badass like Dracula. I started readin some pages and I can already tell that Bram Stoker's work is way better.
Meyer admitted that she barely did any research on vampires and it is really noticable. I can understand that vampires don't burn under sun light. Looking at Legacy of Kain it can work out quite well, especially since burning under sun light wasn't originally part of the vampire myth and Christopher Lee as Dracula proved that vampires can free themselves from certain restriction without losing any of their coolness.
Twilight on the other hand made vampires sparkle. Why would Meyer do that?! It's like she is trying to deliberately piss off all vampire fans.
Well, those were the things that pissed me off. The good things were about 20 pages that included Edward's sister and brother as well as Jacob.
Both his siblings seemed interesting. His sister went on a rampage Kill Bill style and his brother participated in a vampiric turf war. That's cool.
Jacob was the only one with some decent characterization. The only thing she messed up was the ending. Let's just say he chose to be a phedophil and leave it at that.
The slow development of Edward's and Bella's relationship was also a plus. Most romances nowadays are rushed.
I guess those are the only good points. I had a lot more bad points, but those are only related to the movie.
In any case I can understand that people like Twilight, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Why has't anyone told me that it was supposed to be "than" and not "then"?
and i think that you will fiond if you read the books that bella didnt like edward at all at first cause she thought that he was really ignorant, but then he saved her life and she was greatful, they become friends, infact if you read edwards version of twilight you see that he idolises her for the way that she is with other people, and bella idolises edward for the life that he has chosen to lead despite the hand he has been dealt.
as for destroying vampires, they arent real and you can change the lore if you like, for example anne rice, she changed it all so they could be what she wanted. i think what meyer did was imaginative and different, it allows for a wider audience to read vampires. i think the sparkle goes with the idea for the origional vampires, they are supposed to draw you in, make you helpless, the sparkle only futhers that.
and i think what this teaches more than anything is that its ok to pursue your feelings, that edward should be allowed to love bella despite being a vampire and that bella should be allowed to be loved the way that edward loves her.
jacob is an ass i hate him.
the end! lol /rant

I don't really plan to read Edward's version.
The whole premise just feels so weird. It just seems like a "girl meets boy, both fall in love with each other" setting. But it's so simple and doesn't have the drama I'm looking for.
The idea of that evil vampire couple (James and that woman) was the only thing I was able to enjoy. They seemed like real vampires.
Vampire's don't have to be evil, but there are things that defines vampires and sparkling is not part of this. Anne Rise did make changes, but not so many or so outlandish that it annoys me.
It's true that it teaches to pursue your feelings and that love should be accepted as it is.
My problem lies with the dynamic of their relationship. Sometimes I got the feeling that Edward only tells her that he is dangerous and that she should stay away from and nothing else. This may be because I only read a few chapters, but it's enough to be a major turn off for me.
Somehow this series invites people to rant. I already heard some people debatting it.
